Welcome to Braeburn Primary and Nursery Academy

I am extremely proud to be the headteacher of our wonderful school. At Braeburn, we are a team where everyone feels welcome and valued; it is a special place where children are happy and feel safe to learn and where achievement in all areas of learning is noticed and celebrated.

We are wholeheartedly committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning, achieved through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise to ensure that all pupils and staff fulfil their potential and are given the best possible opportunities to succeed. We are very fortunate to have a large school site with fantastic facilities and spacious learning environments where our children can thrive through the delivery of an exciting, creative curriculum. Our staff team is highly committed to teaching stimulating and engaging lessons, as well as stretching every child with our rich curriculum. We pride ourselves in our specialist sport and music provision, and the variety of extra-curricular opportunities we offer.

We firmly believe that every child can achieve, and that all of our children should have the  opportunity to leave primary school with a mastery of the curriculum that significantly increases their life chances.

We have core values of excellence, belonging, opportunity and respect. Our ethos of mutual respect, trust and honesty helps to grow children’s confidence, resilience, tolerance and their ability to see the world from other people’s perspectives.  We also take a restorative approach across school, which focuses on resolving conflict and rebuilding relationships, so every child feels valued and has a voice. Our core values and ethos are at the heart of everything we do in school, building a strong and happy school community where everyone has the inspiration and drive to achieve their best.

All our staff are extremely dedicated and supportive, working very hard to provide the best opportunities for our pupils. We take the job of educating children extremely seriously but we also like to have fun along the way!

The positive support of our parents and the wider community is very important to us all and we maintain an open and welcoming environment where we can work in partnership for the benefit of our children. There are regular opportunities for parents and wider families to collaborate with us in their children’s education.

Please take some time to look through our website to give you further insight into our school.  Don’t forget to look at our ‘latest news’ and our very active Twitter feed. Visiting our school, however, will give you a full and better picture of our special learning environment. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you would like to come and visit, I’m always very proud to show anyone around.

Best wishes

Mrs Michaela Chalk
