My name is Richard Adams. I currently oversee Anglo American’s Woodsmith Education Programme in North Yorkshire and Redcar & Cleveland.
I also have extensive experience in the Higher Education sector through previous roles with the Universities of Hull and York St John.
My professional focus is on equipping students (especially those who are disadvantaged) to achieve their potential by supporting their personal development, raising aspirations, STEM engagement, and improving learning and attainment.
I was born and raised in Scarborough, and then graduated from the University of Birmingham in English and Philosophy.
I then spent 10 years as a professional musician before moving into education.
I’m married, with two teenage children, and we’re all based here in Scarborough.
I still play music in my spare time, and also play football, alongside supporting the mighty Scarborough Athletic FC.
